Notes: One of three zoos with buildings designed by Lubetkin and Tecton, (the others being London and Dudley, Whipsnade originally had four structures designed by the partnership; the concrete elephant house, made up of a series of circular stalls, designed for younger elephants, a timber giraffe house, a kiosk with a curved concrete roof and a restaurant with a wall of glass bricks for the entrance and views out to the park from two of the other three walls. Only the elephant house (now empty) and the restaurant (now housing monkeys) still survive.
