Name: Uxbridge Station
Date: 1938
Architect: Charles Holden and L.H. Bucknell
Lines: Metropolitan, Piccadilly
Borough: Hillingdon
Listing:
Notes: Uxbridge was opened in December 1938, resiting the previous station and introducing a curved facade with an integrated shopping parade, Behind the somewhat grandiloquent entrance, the ticket hall and train shed are more in keeping with Holden’s previous style; the interior is lit by clerestory windows, and stained glass work by Erwin Bossanyi, continuing into the reinforced concrete train shed structure covering the platform areas.
