Name: West Acton Station
Date: 1940
Architect: Brian Lewis
Lines: Central
Borough: Ealing
Listing: Grade II
Notes:One of Brian Lewis’ designs for the Central Line extension to West Ruislip, West Acton take its influence from Charles Holden’s brick boxes of the early 1930s, adding a glazed front upper floor sandwiched between two brick walls. The platforms feature waiting areas, complete with beautiful curved hardwood benches. West Acton was the only station finished to Lewis’s original designs, with the architect returning to Australia, before the other stations on the line were completed.
