Name: South Harrow Station
Date: 1935
Architect: Charles Holden
Lines: Piccadilly
Borough: Harrow
Listing:-
Notes: Originally opened in 1901, South Harrow was rebuilt at a slightly different location in 1935, opening on July 5th. The redesigned station by Holden straddles the tube line, much like his design at Ruislip Manor. The building has a stepped appearance, graduating up to the platforms. The structure of the building is the same as most of the Piccadilly line stations, being formed of bricks around a concrete frame, topped with a flat concrete roof. The station also has a bus interchange in front, something that Frank Pick and Holden thought essential in making a station a civic hub for each neighbourhood.
