Name: Muswell Hill Odeon
Date: 1936
Architect: George Coles
Borough: Haringey
Listing: Grade II*
Notes: A cinema on Fortis Green Road designed for the Odeon chain by the prolific architect George Coles. It has a curved frontage, clad in cream and black tiling, but without the usual Art Deco frills. The interior was designed to be lavish and luxurious in contrast to the more sombre facade. The cinema design is one of the only remaining interwar cinemas influenced by German Expressionism, and is still showing films as part of the Everyman chain.
