Name: Gillette Factory
Date: 1937
Architect: Bannister Fletcher
Borough: Hounslow
Listing: Grade II
Notes: Factory for Gillette, designed by architect Bannister Fletcher, and opened in 1937. It has a long, 150 ft frontage, with a typical 1930’s style clocktower and iron framed windows with decorative metal aprons. Built in dark brick and influenced by Willem Dudok, it looks a bit sombre in comparison with the more exotic Wallis, Gilbert & Partners factories around the corner. The factory closed in 2006 and is supposed to be undergoing redevelopment into a hotel and leisure complex.
