Notes:  When opened on 20th December 1937, the Gaumont State was the largest cinema in England. It had a capacity of just over 4000 seats, and an auditorium equipped for stage shows as well as showing films. The exterior features a 120 foot tower that was originally equipped with a radio studio. After converting to a bingo hall in the 1980s, the building later became a church.
