Name: Ealing Village
Date: 1936
Architect: R. Toms and Partners
Borough: Ealing
Listing: Grade II
Notes: Dutch colonial inspired private estate built to attract film stars from the nearby Ealing Studios. Designed by the firm R.Toms & Partners, to bring some Sunset Boulevard glamour to the suburbs with its white washed walls, green pantiles and mansard roofs. The estate also features a swimming pool, tennis court, clubhouse, bowling green and a croquet lawn. The Ealing Hollywood did not really come to fruition though, with most of the apartments bought by film crew rather than screen stars. It still remains as a reminder of the brief glory days of the British film industry.
