Name: Chester Road Hostel
Date: 1979
Architect: Bill Forrest
Borough: Camden
Listing:
Notes: Built as part of the Highgate New Town development that included the Whittington Estate, the hostel on Chester Road was intended to accommodate those suffering from mental health issues who needed close supervision. It was designed by Bill Forrest of Camden Borough in a contracted L-shape plan, sheltering the inhabitants from the road. The building was demolished in 2021 despite a campaign to save it.
